What is managing a kiosk iPad for?
A kiosk iPad belongs to the shop and stays fixed at a counter, table or classroom for shared use; it is not a device staff take home. Managing it with MDM lets it enroll by itself on first boot, blocks erasing the device or removing management, hides or blocks apps that are not for the job, and pushes Wi-Fi and a passcode to many shops at once. Locking the iPad to a single app, silent bulk app install and web filtering are coming soon.

Put every iPad in the system in supervised mode.
Block erase and removing management
Whoever stands at the counter cannot reset the device to escape management. A device restored to factory settings still returns to the system.
Hide or block apps
Hide or block individual apps that are not for selling. Block AirDrop, the camera and screenshots when needed.

Putting an iPad on the counter

Enroll the device
Devices bought through the business channel enroll automatically on first boot. Devices bought retail are added with Apple Configurator on an iPhone.

Set supervision and block erase
Turn on supervised mode and block erase and removal of management before the device goes to the counter.

Hide extra apps
Leave only the apps the counter needs.

Repeat across shops
One platform, devices assigned by branch. Configure in bulk instead of setting up each device by hand.
Cost for kiosk iPads
Retail is 17,000 VND per device per month, excluding VAT, billed by the day with a minimum of 30 days per device. Annual billing is 20% lower at 13,600 VND per device per month.

Questions about kiosk iPads
Can ABMDM lock an iPad to a single app yet?
Not yet. Locking an iPad to one app, arranging the home screen and web filtering are coming soon. Today you can use supervised mode, block erase, and hide or block apps.
How is a kiosk iPad different from an iPad staff take home?
A kiosk iPad stays at the counter and belongs to the shop. Staff do not take it home or erase it.
Should I use a personal iPad as a kiosk?
Only if it belongs to the shop or you have written consent. A personal device does not become a counter device by itself.
Does a factory reset let a counter iPad escape management?
If the device is still in Apple Business, supervised and has anti-removal configuration, a reset still returns it to the system.
