Company iPhone management software: how to choose
The right company iPhone management software matches the job you actually run: handing devices to staff, locking iPads at a counter, or keeping title on instalment phones. Compare by solution group, Vietnamese law and operating cost — not by an overseas brand name. This article sets out how shops and companies should choose.
The job you run decides the software
Company iPhone management software is not chosen by a familiar brand name. Choose by the job: staff devices, counter iPads, or instalment phones.
Staff devices: they enrol at power-on, you recover them when someone leaves, you block removal of management, and you wipe company data if a phone is lost.
Retail counters: the iPad runs one app, with the same configuration across shops.
Instalments and leasing: the device belongs to the business until it is paid off, reminders run 7am–9pm, locks apply in tiers, and the device unlocks on payment.

Must-have checks before you sign
Legal: only company-owned devices or written consent. Location is sensitive (Law 91/2025/QH15, Decree 356/2025/ND-CP). Reminders 7am–9pm. Instalments keep title until paid (Civil Code Article 453).
Technical: Apple Business connection, a way to add retail-bought devices, anti-removal, command logs. If you need an API, ask whether it ships on the lowest plan. ABMDM includes the API on Starter.
Operations: Vietnamese language, Zalo, support 8am–9pm, VND payment, VAT invoices.
Price: pricing is per seat, six-month terms. From about 133 devices per term, Professional is cheaper in the first term at 100,000 VND per device.
What MDM must not promise
Do not accept a promise to strip MDM from a phone you bought, to bypass Activation Lock, or to read employee messages. A seller who promises that is asking you to break the law.
Buying used: check on the device and look up the serial. If it is still managed, do not take it.
Try before you buy a plan
Open Apple Business (or register). Create an ABMDM account, upload the token, power on one test device. Send lock/unlock and read the log.
The trial is 14 days, up to five devices, with no upfront payment. It does not convert by itself. Call 0913 081 986 if you want someone beside you when you connect the portal.
Staff privacy and instalment customers
Company iPhone management software does not turn a shop into a surveillance desk. The labour contract or instalment contract needs a consent sentence: the device belongs to the business (or is managed for the contract term), location is viewed only if the device is lost or the contract is overdue, and access is logged.
Staff still have private messages and photos on a company phone. MDM cannot read them. The shop must not install a side-loaded tracker outside Apple's protocol.
Instalment customers: reminders 7am–9pm, only to the named person. Tiered locks when overdue protect title; they are not a tool for pressure outside the law. After payoff, remove management in the process you promised.

Checklist before you pay
- You have Apple Business, or you know who will file (yourself or the 13,000,000 VND service).
- A list of devices the company owns, with serials/IMEIs.
- The job for week one: staff issue, kiosk, or instalments.
- Someone who answers Zalo/phone 8am–9pm.
- You need VAT invoices and VND payment.
- You have read the scope: no reading messages, no unlawful MDM removal, no daily location tracking.
If the checklist matches, start the trial. If it does not, fix the contract and the Apple file first — do not buy a plan and ask about the law afterwards.
When to change what you do today
Change when you are hand-configuring more than a couple of dozen phones and you start losing devices when staff leave. Change when instalment customers go silent and the shop cannot lock the screen. Change when a counter iPad goes home.
Do not change only because you heard an overseas product name. Change because of domestic operations: Vietnamese language, VietQR, VAT, support hours.
If you already use free basic management in Apple Business and you now need tiered locks, accounting integration and branch permissions — connect ABMDM. Do not drop Apple's portal. Apple Business stays the foundation. The paid MDM is the layer on top.

Frequently asked questions
Does a 10-device company need iPhone management software?
Yes, if the devices belong to the company. Ten hand-configured phones still drift and are hard to recover when someone leaves. MDM is priced per seat, with no minimum count.
Can we stay on free management inside Apple Business?
Yes if you only assign devices and send a few basic commands. If you need tiered locks, VietQR, Zalo and VAT invoices, connect a paid MDM.
Can we manage a phone an employee brought from home?
Only with written consent. A personal phone does not become a company phone by itself. Location is sensitive data — do not turn on daily tracking.
Can we pick overseas software and pay in USD?
Technically yes if you accept a foreign invoice, another time zone for support, and no VietQR. Vietnamese shops usually need VND, VAT and support from 8am to 9pm.
How is ABMDM priced?
Starter is 150,000 VND per device per six months. Professional is 100,000 VND per device per six months plus a 6,650,000 VND activation fee. The trial is 14 days, up to five devices, with no upfront payment.
Can ABMDM see an employee's photos?
No. Apple's protocol does not allow reading photos, messages or passwords. The Security page states what is collected.
