What is Samsung Knox Guard?

Samsung Knox Guard is Samsung’s technology so a business can keep control of Galaxy phones sold on instalments or leased — different from MDM on iPhone. ABMDM is developing Samsung support through Knox Guard. Today the service supports iPhone and iPad. This article explains what Knox Guard is, how it differs from Apple MDM, and does not explain how to bypass a lock.

What Knox Guard is

Samsung Knox Guard is technology from the phone maker Samsung so a business can keep control of Galaxy devices — usually on instalments or leases. The device can be restricted remotely if the contract is not paid off. That is not iPhone MDM and not the name of a competing MDM product.

Vietnamese shops often see used Galaxy phones with a “company lock” screen, the same idea as an “MDM-locked” iPhone. The rule is the same: if the device still belongs to an organisation, a retail buyer does not become the management owner just because they paid the person who sold it.

ABMDM’s features page lists Android (Samsung, via Knox Guard) as in development. Site FAQ: the service supports iPhone and iPad today. No ship date, no invented Samsung menu names, no lock-button walkthrough for Galaxy.

Searches for “what is knox guard” usually come from two places: a shop that wants to lock Android instalment phones, and a buyer who sees an organisation screen. This article answers both and stops before any bypass.

How it differs from iPhone MDM

Company iPhones go through Apple Business, Supervised mode and ABMDM commands. Background: what MDM is. iPhone instalments: instalment iPhones with MDM.

Galaxy plus Knox Guard is Samsung’s layer on Galaxy hardware. Do not mix commands, do not assume wiping an iPhone clears a Galaxy lock, do not assume one “bypass” works for both makers.

Mac is also in a different platform group on the features page, not in the service you can buy today.

When the Android branch ships, the legal rules do not change: only devices you own or have written consent for; reminders 7am–9pm; location sensitive under Law 91/2025/QH15. Civil Code 453 still applies to instalments: the seller keeps title until payoff.

Used phones, payoff and what not to do

This article does not explain how to bypass Knox Guard, break an Android lock, or “flash” a device for someone else. That is a legal risk. Before you buy a used phone: watch the screen at power-on, ask for payoff paperwork, call the number on the organisation screen. After payoff, the party that held title must remove the company lock — that is their duty, not a job for the retail buyer to strip.

ABMDM does not remove Samsung locks for you. Serial lookup on this site only shows devices in the ABMDM system (enrolled iPhone and iPad), not Knox Guard.

If you sell both brands: run iPhone and iPad on ABMDM today. Keep Galaxy on paperwork until the Knox Guard branch ships. Do not promise customers “one app locks iPhone and Samsung this week”.

What an Android instalment shop should prepare now

Paperwork does not wait on software: the contract keeps title until payoff, allows device management, reminds 7am–9pm, and says what happens when overdue. When the Knox Guard branch ships, a missing contract still means you should not lock.

Split iPhone stock and Galaxy stock on the books. Put iPhones in Apple Business and ABMDM today. Record Galaxy serials, IMEI, handover dates and contract numbers — so when the feature ships you enrol the right units, not phones already paid off.

Do not use iPhone MDM as a stand-in lock for Galaxy. Do not promise a lock screen that “looks like iPhone” on Samsung before Android ships.

What a used-phone buyer should check

Power the device on. See whether an organisation name, phone number or company QR appears. Ask for payoff papers. Call the number on the screen. Do not take the phone to a lock-bypass service. Do not buy a phone still on an unpaid instalment.

ABMDM serial lookup only covers devices in the ABMDM system. A Galaxy will not appear there. Do not treat lookup as a guarantee for every brand.

When a shop sells a paid-off Galaxy: remove the organisation lock before handover. Sending a still-locked phone to the used market pushes risk onto the buyer and back onto the shop when a complaint arrives.

The 2025 data law applies to Android contract data the same way as iPhone: no all-day location, no reading messages. When Knox Guard ships on ABMDM, the same rules apply — they do not loosen because “Android is easier to inspect”.

Frequently asked questions

Can ABMDM lock Samsung phones yet?

No. Samsung support through Knox Guard is in development. Today ABMDM supports iPhone and iPad.

Is Knox Guard the same as iPhone MDM?

No. Knox Guard is Samsung technology on Galaxy phones. iPhone MDM goes through Apple Business and Apple’s protocol.

Can someone remove Knox Guard from a phone we already bought?

No. Bypassing a lock on a device you do not own is a legal risk. Check the device before you take it and contact the organisation on the screen.

We sell both iPhones and Galaxy phones. What now?

Use ABMDM for iPhones today. Galaxy waits on the Knox Guard branch. Do not promise one console for both before Android ships.

Are Macs in ABMDM?

Mac sits in a different platform group, with the same in-development status as Android on the features page. Today the focus is iPhone and iPad.

A Galaxy is still locked after payoff. What should we do?

Contact the seller or the organisation on the screen to remove company lock. Do not hire a third party to bypass it. ABMDM does not remove Knox Guard for you.
